Trump Defends His Charitable Foundation

Donald Trump’s charitable foundation has been at the center of many controversies and investigations, including such episodes as using his foundation to buy a portrait of himself as well as buying an autographed football helmet and donating to a political group which supported Florida attorney general Pam Bondi when she was considering whether to investigate Trump University for fraud.

The Foundation admitted to violations of IRS regulations and currently it is under investigation by New York attorney general for unlawfully using charity for personal purchases and settlement of lawsuits. A few weeks ago Donald Trump announced that he would dissolve his charitable foundation.

Still, today Trump defended his charitable foundation and blasted its critics:

“Can you believe these critics?! They are such nasty people. But all the bad things they say about my foundation – they are lies, total lies.

My foundation was solving some of the world’s toughest problems like protecting the endangered portraits of the world’s most un-narcissistic species of billionaires as well as supporting our country’s attorney generals who were in dire need of financial assistance so that they could appreciate the value that Trump University was providing to people and that it was clearly not a scam.

The foundation has been a gift to humanity.”
